Putting safety first
At the core of our business ethos is our Health & Safety Policy which forms an essential and mandatory part of induction. We employ a full time Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental Manager to continuously review our management systems to ensure risks to our staff, contractors, pedestrians, and the motoring public are eliminated or minimised wherever possible.
In addition to our rigorous induction and training programme, we carry out a rolling programme of ‘Tool Box Talks’ on health and safety for all members of staff. Our dedicated Audit Team completes random safety audits to help ensure staff work to the highest standards.
All our road crews are provided with work packs for each project including method statements, risk assessments and drawings. Submission of onsite risk assessments and job record forms are mandatory for all site personnel. We also monitor accidents and near miss incidents which all contributes to a safer working environment.
Drug and alcohol testing
To ensure the safety of employees, contractors, and members of the public, Class One Traffic Management operates a zero-tolerance policy on the consumption of drugs and alcohol. As a result, we carry out random drug and alcohol testing with staff members.
We provide details of this key performance indicator on a monthly basis to the Traffic Management Contractors Association (TMCA).
We recognise that the use of alcohol and/or drugs may impair the safe and efficient running of the business and/or the health and safety of our employees and we are fully committed to reducing these risks for everyone involved.
