At the core of our business ethos is our Health & Safety policy.
We employ a full time Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental Manager to continuously review our management systems to ensure risks to our staff, contractors, pedestrians, and the motoring public are eliminated or minimised wherever possible.
In addition to our rigorous training programme, we carry out a rolling programme of Tool Box Talks. Our dedicated Audit Team complete random safety audits to help ensure staff work to the highest of standards.
All our road crews are provided with work packs for each project including method statements, risk assessments and drawings. Submission of onsite risk assessments and job record forms are mandatory for all site personnel. We also monitor accidents and near miss incidents which all contributes to a safer working environment.
Drug & Alcohol Testing
To ensure the safety of employees, contractors, and members of the public, Class One operates a zero-tolerance policy on the consumption of drugs and alcohol and carries out for cause and random testing with staff members to determine whether this policy has been infringed.
We provide details of this KPI monthly to the Traffic Management Contractor’s Association and came third in their national league table for the total number of tests carried out, which was 559 in 2017.
We recognize that the use of alcohol and/ or drugs may impair the safe and efficient running of the business and/ or the health & safety of our employees and we are fully committed to reducing these risks for everyone involved.
